Overly Self-Aware and Anxious in Some Public Places - Ask.
One of the reasons why it was so difficult for me to start the homework assignments was because I had such a negative association with doing homework. I have OCD, Tourette's, and generalized anxiety disorder so when I would do homework I would start to count letters in words, tense and jerk all of my muscles, start to make noises, breath irregularly, shudder my eyes, and a BUNCH of other motions.
An equal number of girls and boys experience social anxiety, and in any given school year about 7% of children will have a diagnosis of social anxiety. Some of the problems associated with social anxiety disorder include poor school performance, low confidence in social situations, trouble developing and maintaining friendships, depression, and alcohol or drug use.
This used to happen to me a lot in public places, but it's settled down recently. I think my eyes get dry fairly easily but it definitely caused by anxiety. I know how much it sucks since it just makes you more anxious, but calming down and gaining self confidence seems like the only thing that will fix it.
For me, it's the maintenance involved with keeping friends. You have to regularly communicate and go places with friends to keep up the relationship. The ugly truth is that sometimes that feels like too much mental energy to do. It's harder to go.

Children with anxiety and children with ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) can exhibit some of the same characteristics and behaviors so it can be hard to tell the difference.For example, both can have trouble with focusing in class, both can be inefficient, both resort to escapist behavior and both can lead to emotional outbursts or tantrums.
